Why Balancing Your Metabolism Just Makes Sense… 2

In my clinic, I estimate that around 90% of patients who come to see me list ‘weight loss’ as one of their key areas they are needing support with.  And while there are more than a few weight-loss strategies around (all promising miraculous results), the reality is that most of them fail in the long-term.  Not only is this extremely disheartening after putting a LOT of effort into watching what you are eating, and getting your gym on, it isn’t good for your body in the long run to lose weight and regain it time and time again.

I totally get it.  Although I’ve been a qualified nutritionist for almost a decade, I too find that the weight can creep on far too easily, and be difficult to take off….even though I eat well (most of the time!) and look after myself.  I’ve always struggled with a metabolism that isn’t quite where it needs to be, and have had the somewhat unique experience of knowing what it feels like to be a size 10…. and a size 18….and everywhere in between.  I know that those extra kilos are more than just an inconvenience - they affect your self-confidence, your energy and your moods and how you feel about yourself.  And in my clinic, I also see more than a few patients who are very frustrated that the scales haven’t budged - even when they’ve tried various methods of shifting unwanted kilos…including those that have worked for their friend, their mother or their hairdresser.

This is where the metabolism comes into play.  Your metabolism controls how fast you burn your food for energy – which at the end of the day determines how much you can eat without putting on weight.  I’m sure you can think of someone you know who can eat like a horse without gaining an ounce, and someone else (perhaps yourself) who just needs to look at food sideways for the jeans to instantly become tighter.  The reality is that everyone has a different metabolism that is unique to them – which means it doesn’t make a lot of sense to take a one-size fits-all approach to weight loss.

Resetting The Metabolism – For Life

The good news is that there IS an approach that looks at both your metabolism and what your own body needs.  This approach is called Metabolic Balance® and it has just landed in the clinic!  Let me tell you a bit more about this amazing program….

First off, let me be clear -Metabolic Balance® is not a diet.  It’s not about restriction, deprivation, or starvation.  In fact – quite the opposite.  Metabolic Balance® is actually about finding the foods that suit YOUR body, so that you can reset your metabolism, optimise body function for better health, and naturally release weight that your body has been holding on to.

A Metabolic Balance® plan is completely individualised to your body – by using 36 scientifically analysed blood values and parameters to gain insight into how your metabolism is working, and any deficiencies of key elements that may have thrown your metabolism out of whack.  This enables the right foods to be selected that exactly match your nutritional requirements.  Now, doesn’t this make a lot more sense than calorie counting?

And it’s not a new fad or flash-in-the-pan either.  Metabolic Balance® originated in Germany in the 1980’s, and has been widely used in countries all over the world, including Europe, USA and Canada, and individualised plans have been created for over a million people around the world.  In fact, a study published in the British Medical Journal compared 8 health plans, with Metabolic Balance® being the only program to achieve the criteria set as being necessary for long-term success.1   And this is the true value of any program – not just losing the weight, but being provided with the tools to keep it off.

Other Benefits of Metabolic Balance®

The great thing about this program is its potential to also help improve many other areas of health, such as:

  • High blood pressure
  • Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes (metabolic syndrome)
  • Cholesterol issues (high cholesterol and/or triglycerides)
  • Fatigue
  • Mental health
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Migraines
  • Aches & pains
  • Gout
  • Gut discomfort
  • Thyroid issues
  • Hormonal imbalances (such as PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, infertility)
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Low sex drive and/or erectile dysfunction

When Will The Program Be Available?

I’ve just recently (July 2020) completing the training and implementation process to become a certified Metabolic Balance® coach, and the program is now available in the clinic!  It is an all-inclusive journey, including your individualised plan, and regular coaching sessions complemented with Metascan™ Quadscan Body Composition & Cellular Health Analysis testing (if you are able to attend the clinic in-person).  There are even health fund rebates available for certain funds and levels of cover!

At this stage I am the only practitioner in Toowoomba certified in Metabolic Balance® and able to offer this unique, tailor-made program.

I’m exceptionally excited about the potential for this program to not only help people reset their metabolism and achieve the healthy weight that is right for them, but also I am passionate about people getting back to enjoying life.  Which is what it’s all about at the end of the day.

Stay tuned for updates and further information over the coming weeks
